Xi'an also known as Sian, is the capital of Shaanxi Province. A sub-provincial city on the Guanzhong plain in northwest China, it is the oldest cities in China, and the oldest of Four Great Ancient Capitals, having held the position under several of the most important dynasties in Chinese history, including Western Zhou, Qin, Western Han, Sui, and Tang. Xi'an is the Starting point of the Silk Road and home to the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang.

Since the 1990s, as part of the economic revival of inland China especially for the central and northwest regions, the city of Xi'an has re-emerged as an important cultural, industrial and educational center of the central-northwest region, with facilities for research and development, national security and space exploration. Xi'an currently holds sub-provincial status, administering 9 districts and 4 counties

NPU is classed as a key university in China’s 985 and 211 Projects, and is affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is also a member of the “Excellent Union 9 (E9)” in China.

Originally founded as the State Northwest Polytechnic Institute in 1938, NPU has developed into an open and research-oriented University by bringing its founding spirit of inquiry and innovation into a wide-ranging curriculum that now includes the Humanities, Law, Management and Foreign Languages. And by incorporating three of China’s leading engineering schools， NPU has gained international recognition for its work in the fields of aeronautics, astronautics, and marine technology.

• NPU President Scholarship includes the first prize, second prize, and third prize.

• For the first prize winners, tuition, accommodation (Double room) and insurance fees are waived. In addition, they are entitled to a monthly allowance:1,500RMB/person/month for bachelor's candidates

• For the second prize winners, tuition fees are waived

• For the third prize winners, half of the tuition fees are waived

• This scholarship is for the first year, students can reapply for it in the following year, annual evaluation is required.

  The scholarship directly offset the tuition fee, accommodation fee, and insurance fee.

University Introduction

Founded in 1952, Xi'an International Studies University is one of the earliest four institutions of higher learning established to offer foreign languages in the new China. It is also the only government-run institution of higher learning to offer foreign languages in the northwest. In the recent year, the University, taking a firm grip on the historic opportunity of big strides in higher education and large-scale development in the west, has realized transformation from an institution of single branch of foreign languages to a new type of interdisciplinary sort to cover the aspects of literature, economy, management, legal science, engineering and pedagogy by deepening reforms on teaching and adjusting structures of specialties.
