Entry requirements

  • Above 18 years old, non-Chinese citizen.
  • Applicants for Master programs should have a Bachelor degree or equivalent.
  • Healthy both physically and mentally.
  • IELTS: ≥ 6.0; or TOEFL: ≥ 550(PBT), ≥ 80 (iBT).
  • Applicants with GMAT (Program code KXQ-WQ-60) will be preferred.
  • Opportunity to interact with students from around the world
  • Native English speaker or the applicants with bachelor degrees in native English nations can be waived from English requirement. GMAT or GRE is optional.

Note: Since 2010, those who immigrated to other countries from the Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan and applying to study in Tongji University as international students, should satisfy the following additional requirements:
the applicants must hold valid passport or other relevant international recognized documents for at least 4 years; In the latest 4 years (by each April 30th of the year of University registration), the applicants must live overseas for 2 years (Living overseas for 9 months can be converted to 1 year, which is subject to the exit-entry stamp on visa).

Faqs

Q1: How is the overall plan of MGM study?

A1: Students usually finish all the courses learning within the first year of study and then work on the thesis during the 3rd and 4th semester. In the 2nd year of the program, students can also choose to study abroad for one semester (non-degree exchange) or for two semesters (double-degree program). Thesis defense will be usually arranged at the end of the 4th semester or 5th semester subject to different cases.

Q2: Is the TOFEL/IELTS required for all the applicants?

A2: Native English speaker or the applicants with bachelor degrees in native English nations can be waived from English requirement. An IELTS or TOEFL English score is required for applicants from non-native English speaking countries. GMAT and GRE are optional, but is a plus.

Q3: What is the expected contents for personal statement?

A3: You may cover the topics like your study and work experience, academic research achievement, planned research proposal, your motivation to apply for MGM, and your future career development plan and etc.

Q4: What is the living cost in Shanghai?

A4: Shanghai is one of the most expensive cities in China, however, compared to most western countries, the living cost is still lower. Budgeting 3,000/month (outside of rent) is sufficient to live a comfortable life in Shanghai.

Q5: How will the holidays be arranged?

A5: There is a Spring Festival holiday for a month, usually from the mid Jan to mid Feb subject to the moon calendar, and a summer break for almost two months (usually from mid July- early Sep). There is no holiday for Christmas.
