On Mar. 21, Deng Yunfeng, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Education Committee and Director of the Provincial Education Department, together with Wang Tan, Deputy-Director of the Provincial Education Department, Gai Yuanhua, Office Director of the Provincial Education Department, Gao Lei, Director of the Provincial Higher Education Department, Jiang Wenli, Director of the Provincial Graduate Education Department, and Xu Wenguang, Director of the Provincial Science and Technology Department visited University of Jinan. Xu Jingyan, Secretary of UJN’s Party Committee, Zhang Shiqiang, UJN’s President, and Chen Yuehui, UJN’s Vice-President, were in company. Then a colloquium was held among directors from School Office, Teaching Affairs Office, Office of Development Plan and Discipline Construction, Office of Science and Technology, Office of Social Sciences, Postgraduate School, and Marxism School.

Deng first came to the No. 11 Teaching Building, where he listened to an ideological and political lecture delivered by Guo Xiuping, Professor of UJN’s Marxism School. Affectionate, logical, and illustrated, the lecture was well received by all present.

Later, Deng joined the colloquium presided by Xu Jingyan. Xu expressed his warm welcome for Deng’s visit and his gratitude for Deng’s support.

President Zhang introduced the achievements UJN had scored in recent years in education and teaching, scientific research, social service, cultural inheritance and innovation, and internalization and overseas recruitment. Besides, he reported the opportunities and challenges encountered by UJN in its development.

Deng spoke highly of the efforts UJN had made in recent years in building a high-level university. He extended his confidence in UJN’s future development since he thought the university was organized and gained momentum in all areas, and its faculties were in high spirits. Also, he expressed his continuing support to UJN’s construction, reform and development, and his wish that UJN could lead the provincial “double first-class” construction and make even greater achievements in building a high-level university.

Finally, Xu said that, under the support of the provincial education department, University of Jinan would spare no efforts to build a high-level university in accordance with requirements of the provincial party committee, government, and education department so as to lead the provincial “double first-class” construction.
